Go on, laugh it up as the lady with a wrist cast and puppets explains this to you. Given that you have (I hope) zero experience so far, there's a lot you need to know.
STD'S
We'll start with the obvious, STD's are bad. Some are worse than others though. There are currently four curable STD's so if you get one of these, don't fret, just go to the doctor. The curable ones are syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, and trichomoniasis (which is essentially an uncomfy infection). The rest of them, however, are NOT curable. That included well known things like AIDS/HIV, herpes, etc.
Protection
The ONLY way to protect yourself against any of these (aside from a chastity belt) is to use a condom. Absolutely do NOT let anyone hit that shit raw, don't be dirty. Plenty of dudes will hit you with shit like "but it doesn't feel as good" and to that I say "you know what feels even less good? Getting none because you are not getting in here without protection". Birth control is also a good idea because you have shit to accomplish and motherhood is not one of them (yet). I know there are plenty of side effects that could scare you off but the majority of women do just fine on it. The main one people worry about is weight gain, birth control doesn't usually make you gain weight but it can make you hungrier. You just have to refrain from giving in and you'll be good. It's also a good idea to keep plan B on hand because, try as we might, shit happens. Make sure to buy the generic, not brand name because that's like 50 clams per pill and it works the same.
What do I do if I get an STD?
If you happen to get a curable STD or STI, the next step is talking to a doctor and, likely, getting prescribed antibiotics to fight it off. The most common thing you'll encounter is probably a UTI. These are super treatable with antibiotics but treat it as soon as possible. If you neglect it, it can lead to kidney failure and obv that's BAD.
